A detox diet will only be successful if you work with it, not against it. To make this happen, you need to be completely prepared - mentally and practically - before you start. Take a few days out before you begin to cover the following areas:
• Keep a food diary for two days, writing down everything you eat and drink. When you've done this, circle all the things you felt guilty about eating. Next, circle all the things you ate when you weren't even hungry (even if you've already circled them). Lastly, circle all the things you didn't enjoy eating, or that your body didn't enjoy after you'd eaten them -for example, they made your stomach bloat. This diary will show you how much room for improvement there is in your eating habits. The more items you've circled, the more space there is in your life for diet and detox, and the more you'll probably get out of it. At the end of the month's detox, we'll do the test again.
• You need to want to do this. Below, write a list of at least five reasons why you want to diet and detox. Keep copies of the list in several key places - for example, at work, in the kitchen, in your handbag.
